Meet the Principal
Mr. Lawvigneaud D. Harrell, Ed.S.
MORROW HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL
Lawvigneaud Harrell became a proud principal of the Morrow High School on July 2023. Mr. Harrell has over twenty-five years of experience in education. Prior to becoming the principal of MHS, he served as the principal of Morrow Middle School for six years. Additionally, he worked as the Assistant Principal at both Jonesboro High School in Clayton County Public Schools and Dr. Ronald E. McNair High School in the Dekalb County School System. His career began as a fifth grade teacher at Southlawn Elementary School in Montgomery, Alabama. Moreover, he went on to have a successful teaching career at Peachtree Elementary and Martin Luther King Elementary.
Mr. Harrell grew up in Bessemer, Alabama and graduated from Jess Lanier High School where he was a member of 1990 state championship football team. Additionally, he was also a state championship weightlifter his senior year. He received a football scholarship to attend Alabama State University, where he received an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education and Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Alabama State University, where he was a three year letterman in football. Mr. Harrell furthered his education at Troy State University and earned his Specialist degree in School Leadership.
Mr. Harrell believes that all students deserve a safe and secure learning environment where they can receive a high quality education. Additionally, that rigorous classroom instruction and active engagement are key to students being successful in school. Lastly, parental involvement and community support are paramount to ensuring student success at Morrow High School. Lastly, Mr. Harrell is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. During his free time, he enjoys serving his church in different leadership capacities and spending time with his three wonderful children Kiera, Braylen and Khenedi.
