Greetings Parents and Guardians,

I am certified to teach English, Grades 6-12, and it is a joy to have your child study high school literature and composition in my classroom during this school term. School is a challenging journey, and with your help, we can make this a very successful year. Here is what I need from you: simply, take an active role in your child's education.

I encourage you to emphasize that your child displays positive behavior and good academic practice. To facilitate acceptable behavior, I will review class rules and implement the schools positive behavior plan. I will include challenging research-based strategies to carry out the required instructional curricula which includes the English Language Arts Georgia Standards of Excellence for your child's appropriate grade level.  I ask that you review, sign, and return the class expectations and syllabus your child will deliver to you the first week of school. As we "team support" one another, we can look forward to positive results on teacher, district, and state test results for all students.

I invite you to offer more of yourself to help our students. Come and demonstrate an unusual hobby. Plan to speak to us about your expertise in a particular career field. Perhaps you do not mind sharing your experience and knowledge of a different culture. The students and I would love to have you. Just let me know, and together we will plan for your visit to the classroom.

I charge you to feel free to communicate to your child’s school counselor at any time your child has a concern be it academic, social, or emotional. Should your child become discouraged about school, please communicate with us so that we can to identify the cause of the problem. Moreover, rest assured that concerning your child's progress, the school will keep you informed by sending your child home with 4 ½ weekly conduct and academic progress reports during each semester grading periods.

Finally, parents and guardians, I consider it a great privilege and responsibility to be your child's teacher this year, and I look forward to meeting each of you especially during school scheduled parents' nights at Morrow High School.
